The detailed development plan for approximately 50 new homes in Trönningenäs, north of the city of Varberg, was adopted by the municipality on 23 February 2023. It was subsequently appealed in several stages. By decision of the Land and Environment Court of Appeal, the plan become legally binding on 2 October 2024.

The plan area is in the Lindhov area, on the Trönningenäs peninsula, about 5 km north of Varberg city. The area today consists mainly of agricultural land. The surrounding buildings include a few older farms. To the west of the plan area, a residential area with about 60 homes is emerging. The detailed development plan itself enables around 50 new homes in the form of terraced houses, semi-detached houses, and villas. The plan area also includes two new green spaces.
The detailed development plan was appealed to the Land and Environment Court by many opponents. The objections were, among other things, that the plan would involve unauthorised use of agricultural land, that it would lead to significant damage to national interests and that it did not take reasonable consideration to existing buildings, that surface water management was not secured and that traffic conditions were not good enough. Land acquisition issues were also raised.
However, the municipality was successful in the Land and Environment Court. The detailed development plan was upheld. The plan was then appealed again, to the Land and Environment Court of Appeal. On 2 October 2024, the Land and Environment Court of Appeal announced that the court considers that there are no grounds for taking up the case for review. Accordingly, the detailed development plan become legally binding.
