Vinge's experts write about Swedish maritime law in Shipping Law 2024

Vinge's experts in maritime and transport law have once again contributed the Swedish chapter on maritime law in the latest edition of the International Comparative Legal Guides (ICLG) - Shipping Law 2024.

The chapter provides a practical and clear summary of the most important areas of Swedish maritime law.

ICLG is a leading global legal database covering the state of the law through reference material, analyses, news and legal guides in 193 jurisdictions and 58 practice areas. The database is used by experts in the private and public sectors worldwide and currently has more than 5 million searches per year. Vinge's assignment to write the Swedish chapter on maritime and transport law confirms the firm's leading position in the field of maritime law.

About the authors of the chapter

Michele Fara specialises in dispute resolution, maritime and transport law and commercial contracts. Michele leads the firm's maritime and transport law practice, and is regularly called engaged by transport and logistics operators, industrial companies and insurance companies for virtually all types of issues in this field.

Ninos Aho is a partner in Vinge's dispute resolution group and has extensive experience of representing clients in courts of general jurisdiction, administrative courts and arbitral proceedings. Ninos specialises in maritime and transport law and advises on all modes of transport such as maritime transport, road transport and freight forwarding, rail transport, air transport, logistics (3PL) and transport insurance matters.

Paula Bäckdén holds a PhD in maritime law and specialises in maritime and transport law, including dispute resolution and commercial contracts. She also has particular expertise in insurance law and assists clients in insurance disputes, especially in marine insurance. Paula Bäckdén is also Sweden's Dispascheur (average adjuster).

Anders Leissner, advokat at Vinge, has extensive experience from working with issues relating to international trade. Anders has previously been a corporate lawyer and worked practically with shipping law and compliance related trade issues for more than 20 years. Anders has special experience in international sanctions and export control and assists Swedish and foreign companies on a daily basis with advice and risk assessments. He lectures and has been engaged as an expert by the media on several occasions.

Anna Egefalk is an advokat in Vinge's dispute resolution group and represents clients in both court and arbitral proceedings. Anna also holds an LLM in maritime law and specialises in both this and other forms of transport law. She advises on various types of transport law matters and also has experience working on these issues at a law firm in New York.

Imola Szanto Francsics is an associate at Vinge. She advises clients on maritime and transport law matters. Imola also has a sea captain's qualification and practical experience of shipping.
